Today we have tadpoles. Not as many as previous years, and not as many as the amount of frog spawn earlier in the year would have indicated, but we do have tadpoles. The pond level was pretty low, so I carefully filled it up, that’s the second time this year, just shows how dry it’s been.

I’m very fond of my garden birds as you know, and one of my favourites is the robin, probably because he’s so cute and so cheeky. All robins are born with the ability to ‘strike a pose’, usually a cute one, perched on the handle of a fork or spade for ultimate ‘ahhhh’ effect.

Today I weeded flower bed 1, no really, I actually did weed flower bed 1, and then I went on to weed under the old apple trees, and one of the raspberry beds. After that I’d had enough.

When I decided to uncover the gunnera on Friday, I had checked the weather forecast for the next few days to ensure we had no frost in store.

Today I sowed my peas, 69 in all with the hope of getting 64. They’re now in the conservatory with the broad beans.

Last night there was quite a sharp frost, the first one in what seems like ages. Thankfully all my new little plants and seedlings are tucked up warm in the conservatory. Well ‘warmish’ at least, as it isn’t heated. They all seem to be doing very well.

Last Spring we took a trip to our local garden centre. A large sprawling place that sells everything you could possibly want for your garden and more, at prices that could make your eyes water if you thought about it too hard. They do however have the odd bargain, and that’s why we continue to go.

I’m no great reader, and as a child the only book I remember reading and enjoying was Enid Blyton’s the Castle of Adventure, a story which surrounds 4 children who have an adventure in a castle during the school holidays.

My first job every morning is to put the bird food out onto the feeder. I do this even before I have my own breakfast. It’s a fairly short and well ordered routine that takes me a couple of minutes.
