As any Dr Who fan will know, Appalapachia is the location for the episode in Series 6 called ‘The Girl Who Waited’, which also happens to be one of my favourites.
A planet which, for reasons I won’t go into here, has 2 different time streams running parallel but at different speeds. If you happen to find yourself in the faster one, then you age rapidly, several years in the space of a few hours of ‘normal’ time.

At the moment that pretty much sums up my life. I feel to be straddling 2 different time streams.

On the one hand (or should that be foot?) time drags monotonously slow while we wait for the legal process to grind through it’s various stages, and for builders 2 and 3, who visited and promised estimates in a week, and 10 days on we’re still waiting.

On the other hand (foot) time is flying by at an alarming rate, as the end of our tenancy on the 31st March, looms ever nearer.

The whole idea was that we get the messy, dirty building work, re-wiring and plastering etc. out of the way before we move in, thus taking full advantage of our rental situation. An idea that is now looking increasingly unlikely.

If we carry on at this rate, we’re going to need a time machine!
