For thousands of years mankind has been growing plants, for food, medicine and pleasure. Packets of seeds, potted up plants, pricked out seedlings are  commonplace and familiar to all of us. Yesterday I came upon something I’ve never seen before.

Pansies in a tin. Yes, that’s right a tin of pansies.

We were in a gift shop in Skegness, and there on the shelf were tinned flowers. The one I picked up just happened to be pansies.

It was a ring-pull can, about the size of a regular drinks can. The instructions read :-

  • Open can
  • Poor on water
  • Watch them grow

Will someone please tell me what the world is coming to?
