Building a garden from scratch is easier said than done, but for 15 years that is exactly what we did at Ravendale House.

It was often hard work, but we loved it and the result was our 'blank canvas' of 1998 was transformed into a beautiful and productive garden, which I hope you have enjoyed reading about in this blog.

But tide and time wait for no man and sad to say I am no longer able to give the garden the attention it deserves. It would break my heart to see it fall into disrepair, so the time has come to move on.

I will continue this blog in memory of 15 happy years gardening, but I don't have a garden at the moment so will start by telling the story of the last 9 months, so if you want to read the story from the beginning, please click here.

At last I can report that the robin has forgiven me. At 4.30 pm today, just as it was going dark, he had a splash about in his new bird bath.

Life never ceases to amaze don’t you think? I’ve written at some length, ad nauseam, some might say, about the infamous footstools, but now I have a further, unexpected, chapter for you.

Yesterday I put the bird feeder out and had another run-in with a wren.

Today it is exactly 40 years since I started my first job. Indeed it was my only job as things turned out. Little did I know on that November morning that I was starting a life path that would last 36 years, find me a husband and lots of good friends.

Or perhaps that should be a confused bird lover .

It’s not unusual, during Spring and Summer, for birds to get into the conservatory. How they react to this mishap, seems to depend on species.
