Today we had a day at the seaside, Skegness to be precise. The nearest thing I did to any gardening was watering the plants before we set off and again when we got back. Not a moment too soon for some of them, I was amazed how they’d dried out in just 4 or 5 hours.

The weather was beautiful, though still quite chilly. The sky was blue and the car went like a dream. The fields of oil seed rape were just coming into flower and with the roof down you could smell their unmistakable scent. The colour of their flowers in the sunshine is stunning.

Back at home the flowering cherries have peaked and now the ground around them is covered with a snow white carpet of their fallen blooms. Sad, but in it’s own way still quite spectacular.
