It’s that time of year again, that exciting time of year when each morning you come downstairs and the first job is to go into the kitchen to see how many tomatoes have germinated overnight.

Any slight indentation in the cling film cover could be a new tomato shoot, or is it just a trick of the light?

I’ve never had any problems growing tomatoes, but this year have been a bit disappointed by the speed ( or perhaps I should say slowness ) of their germination.

This morning I did a thorough check of all 8 pots and I have 14 germinations out of 24. One pot, Tigerella, is a complete no show, so if I don’t see some movement soon I’ll have to re-sow him.
