Building a garden from scratch is easier said than done, but for 15 years that is exactly what we did at Ravendale House.
It was often hard work, but we loved it and the result was our 'blank canvas' of 1998 was transformed into a beautiful and productive garden, which I hope you have enjoyed reading about in this blog.
But tide and time wait for no man and sad to say I am no longer able to give the garden the attention it deserves. It would break my heart to see it fall into disrepair, so the time has come to move on.
I will continue this blog in memory of 15 happy years gardening, but I don't have a garden at the moment so will start by telling the story of the last 9 months, so if you want to read the story from the beginning, please click here.

Today I dug up about half of the first of my potato beds, Aron Pilot. Results were a bit variable in size, but in total I got 15lbs 12oz, which isn’t bad for a start.

Today we said goodbye to an old friend. Our Flymo Turbolite 400 finally gave up and died. He was no longer in the first flush of youth, in fact he was 8 years old and hadn’t been well for a while, but it was still a sad moment.

A few years ago when were living in our previous house, we did some alterations to the garden that required some extra top-soil. We checked the local paper and found a farmer who would deliver a ton of top-soil for a reasonable price, and even better than that he would deliver it the same day.

What a disaster. Only 2 days ago I was thinking how well my cauliflowers were doing. Yesterday when I looked they were like umbrella skeletons, no leaves left at all. I’m so upset.

The plug plants are now all planted out, either in tubs or in the garden. It’s up to them now, but so far they’re disappointing. Let’s hope they prove me wrong.
