Earlier in the year the flowering cherries were an absolute picture. Their white blossoms shone out to herald the arrival of my favourite season, Spring.

Now they are just as beautiful as they are beginning to ‘turn’ for the Autumn.

The uppermost leaves are a mixture of gold, red and brown. They’re as pretty as a picture, with the silver birch also in it’s autumn colours, and the cotoneasters with their red berries, providing a supporting role.

The apples are mostly done now, it’s been a good crop this year. The blackbirds have had a field day with them, and I suspect the local squirrel has been helping himself too.

Now I’m waiting for a suitable afternoon so I can get the big mower out for the last big grass cut of the year.
