Cauliflowers, Leeks And Fuchsias

Frantic bitter lemon drinking and a rummage in the dark recesses of the garage have provided some more Schweppes cloches, so today I planted out 12 cauliflowers. My idea is to leave them about a week so their roots can get established and them I’ll remove the cloches and cross my (green) fingers, as they certainly are a bit wimpy looking.
I also planted my leeks, which I’d sown in modules. The final tally is 20 modules, with a hand-full of leeks in each, (numbers a bit variable to be honest).
The peas and onions planted a couple of days ago look to be doing OK, despite the strong winds we’ve been having. I just wish it would get a bit warmer.
The asparagus is just poking it’s head above ground for the first time this year, and there are also a few potatoes breaking cover. I love this time of year as I love to see the straight, neat rows of various green shoots appearing in the vegetable beds.
Finally, as it had started to rain, I took 12 more fuchsia cuttings. This time just the red and white variety. If my success rate remains at 50%, I’ll be quite happy.
